Penta made his much-anticipated debut on the January 13th edition of Monday Night RAW, where he impressed many with his match against Chad Gable. His successful debut seems to have changed the perspective of AEW talents who are unhappy with their roles in the company.
According to a report by Lucha Libre Online, sources stated that several AEW talent have expressed discomfort with their current roles in the company. While they didn’t initially consider WWE as a viable option due to concerns about getting lost in WWE’s vast system or their past lack of TV time, their perspective has shifted.
After seeing Penta’s successful debut in WWE, these AEW talent realized that having AEW experience can actually be a strong selling point and give them leverage in negotiations. As a result, these talent are now more open to exploring WWE as a possible future, with two of them confirming they would consider free agency in 2025, particularly WWE.
It was added that the recent changes in WWE’s management and culture, as well as the opportunities available to former AEW talents like Ethan Page and Lexis King, have made WWE a more attractive alternative for those unhappy with their current AEW status.
WWE has contacted AEW talent about jumping ship in the past. Therefore, fans shouldn’t be too surprised if more AEW talent end up making their way to WWE in the future, as it’s clear WWE is treating ex-AEW stars better than anyone could have expected.
