Saraya has never shied away from talking about her struggles—and now, she’s pulling back the curtain on one of the worst fan encounters of her life.
Speaking on her Rulebreakers podcast, the former WWE star opened up about being viciously body-shamed after gaining weight post-breakup. But things went way beyond keyboard trolls. Saraya said after leaving a toxic relationship, she turned to fast food and beer to cope—gaining weight in the process. But instead of empathy, she was bombarded with abuse.
“I went up to 150 pounds, which for me was big. I’m 135 right now — 15 pounds heavier than I was back then… and I started putting on weight and everyone started picking at it… calling me fat. And I was like, I’m not fat… But they were so f****** cruel about it.”
It didn’t stop at online hate. Saraya shared that while exiting an arena one night, a so-called fan crossed a serious line—physically. He ended up shoving his hand through her car window and pie-faced her, telling her to lose weight.
“I rolled the window down and was signing s*** , high‑fiving… and this guy puts his hand through the window and pushes my face — like pie‑faces me — and says, ‘Lose some f****** weight, Paige.’ And then he f****** takes off.”
Saraya said she was shocked by the attack and thankful she wasn’t alone. The incident is simply a disturbing reminder of how extreme fan entitlement can become, especially when it comes to policing women’s bodies in wrestling.
Despite everything, Saraya continues to speak out and fight back against toxic treatment from fans. Her bravery in sharing this story shows just how much work still needs to be done to create safe spaces for performers outside the ring.
