Santino Marella is changing his tone a bit when it comes to a possible WWE Hall of Fame induction, especially compared to what he said last year.
While speaking to Italian Wrestling Channel, Marella was asked whether he believes he deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and if he sees that moment happening in the future. Marella didn’t push for it or act entitled to the honor.
Instead, he admitted that plenty of people have told him he belongs there, but he doesn’t want to build up expectations for himself: “Ah… Yeah, many people say this, but I don’t want to have an expectation. But if it happens, I’ll be very happy.”
That answer is a little different from what he said in June 2025, when he focused more on whether fans value comedy in wrestling. At the time, Marella said some fans want serious, hard-hitting matches and do not think comedy has a place in wrestling, while others appreciate the entertainment side.
“Well, it depends what you go to wrestling for. If you want macho tough guys, and some people just don’t like comedy, they want to see slobber knockers each and every match. It’s pretty polarized. I think the vast majority of people appreciate the comedy, but there are people that they have no place for comedy.”
Marella’s WWE run was built on timing, personality, and some unforgettable comedy moments, but he also held championship gold and became one of the most recognizable characters of his era. He is currently active in TNA Wrestling as the Director of Authority, where his work has kept him in the limelight.
For now, Santino is not putting pressure on WWE or making a big case for himself. He knows fans talk about it, he hears the support, and if the Hall of Fame call ever comes, he says it would mean a lot.
