Ryan Garcia’s WWE RAW debut is getting buried on YouTube, with the official video pulling in thousands more dislikes than likes after fans rejected his surprise alliance with The Judgment Day.
The July 27 RAW highlight currently has 195,746 views, 4,975 likes and 7,323 dislikes. That means the video has nearly 2,400 more thumbs-down reactions than positive votes, along with more than 1,000 comments.
Garcia showed up during Joe Hendry and Danhausen’s concert before revealing that he was working with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. The boxer smashed Hendry with a guitar as The Judgment Day destroyed Danhausen and the Minihausens ahead of SummerSlam. WWE clearly wanted the appearance to generate attention, and it did. The problem is that the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative.
Fans immediately brought up Garcia’s history of racist comments, offensive social media remarks and controversies involving his personal life. Instead of talking about the guitar shot or his connection to The Judgment Day, viewers questioned why WWE gave him such a prominent spot on RAW.
The official YouTube numbers now put that backlash in plain sight. Nearly 200,000 people have watched the clip, but more viewers have taken the time to dislike it than support it.
Garcia walked into RAW as a celebrity surprise and left as one of the most rejected parts of the entire show. WWE got people talking, but the company probably did not expect its own upload to get hammered this badly.
