Ryan Cabrera is making a full-blown album comeback for the first time in nearly 18 years, and he’s kicking it off with a song that’s basically all Alexa Bliss.
“I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts)” isn’t just some random side project between the married couple — it’s officially the first single from Cabrera’s next album, which is set to arrive on January 29, 2027.
That’s the real update. Cabrera told PEOPLE that a full album wasn’t even something he had been planning. He had spent years working with EPs and singles, but Bliss apparently helped him realize he had enough material sitting there to finally put together a complete record.
“An album wasn’t really in the cards for me in my mind.”
Now it is, and the first track leading the whole thing is dominated by Bliss. The WWE star handles most of the vocals on “I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts),” which makes this one hell of a way for Cabrera to launch his first album in almost two decades. Instead of easing back in with a classic Ryan Cabrera solo track, he’s letting Alexa take center stage right out of the gate. The song itself came from years of bizarre texts Bliss had sent Cabrera, including the line that eventually became the title after he called her a drama queen.
“I’m not a drama queen. I’m just drunk.”
Cabrera realized those random messages could actually work as lyrics and started building a song around them.
“It’s arranged in a way that still sounds like an actual song, but a lot of the stuff that came out of her mouth, I’m like, ‘That’s a cool lyric.’”
The track was produced by Nash Overstreet and also includes Bowling for Soup’s Jaret Reddick and Tommy Carlucci, but the biggest thing here is still how much of the song belongs to Bliss.
Ringside News previously covered Alexa Bliss announcing “I’m Just Drunk (Lexi’s Texts)” as her first-ever song, but now we know it’s carrying a much bigger load than anyone thought. It’s not just Bliss messing around with music. It’s the lead single for Cabrera’s first full album since the late 2000s. Cabrera said the new album pulls from influences like Hot Chelle Rae and Dave Matthews Band while still keeping his own sound intact.
“It’s still me, but [I’m] also being a little adventurous.”
“Adventurous” is definitely one way to put it. Cabrera waited nearly 18 years to make another album, and his first move back is a track driven mostly by Alexa Bliss singing lyrics pulled straight from her text messages. That’s not exactly a quiet comeback.
