Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially joining another major Disney franchise—this time lending his voice to Zootopia 2.
Disney dropped the news in the final international trailer for the animated sequel, confirming that the global box office megastar will play a new character named Zeke.
Johnson’s role? A dik-dik (yes, that’s a real animal) who’s described as accident-prone and finds himself caught in a musical disaster during a high-speed chase led by Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The sequel is slated to hit theaters worldwide on November 26.
Zeke may be a small creature, but he’s voiced by one of the biggest names in entertainment. This marks yet another collaboration between Johnson and Disney, adding to his roles in Jungle Cruise and Moana. He’s not the only familiar name in the cast either—Disney confirmed that Moana castmates Auli‘i Cravalho, Rachel House, and David Fane also make cameo appearances.
Jared Bush, who serves as both writer and director of Zootopia 2, explained why Johnson and the others were natural fits for this world:
“From the beginning, Easter eggs and winks to our favorite films and characters have been a hallmark of the world of Zootopia. We are ecstatic that Zootopia 2 expands our Zootopia family to include even more members of our extended Disney family, filled with dear friends and true Disney Legends.”
The sequel picks up with Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) chasing a mysterious reptile who turns the entire city upside down. The official synopsis promises that the two detectives must go “undercover to unexpected new parts of town” as their dynamic faces its toughest test yet.
Johnson is keeping his Disney slate full. He’s currently filming the live-action remake of Moana, set to drop in 2026, and he’s also attached to Lizard Music, where he’ll play a character called “Chicken Man”—because of course he is.
Whether it’s a jungle cruise, a musical dik-dik, or a man dressed as a chicken, The Rock continues to expand his reach in the world of family entertainment. And Zeke? He might just steal the show.
