Ricochet is not feeding into the Sheamus and New Day to AEW chatter.
After MJF stirred things up by posting about Sheamus and telling him to “bring that smoke O’Shaunessy,” Ricochet jumped on Twitter and made it clear he is not buying the idea of Sheamus or New Day showing up in AEW. Ricochet kept it blunt and told everyone to pump the brakes.
Then Ricochet explained why he doesn’t need either of them showing up. First, he brought up Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, saying he would take them out in Tekken. Then he turned his attention to Sheamus and made it even simpler.
Everyone, listen. Neither New Day or Sheamo is coming to @AEW FOR 1. I’d kick Kofi and Creed’s ass in @Tekken They know that. And 2, I’d simply just kick Sheamus’ ass. Its easy. Don’t get your hopes up. 👑 👌🏽 #Ahaa
As previously reported, Sheamus is expected to leave WWE after his contract expires. WWE offered him an extension while he was out with an injury, but he turned it down. This was not a WWE release. Sheamus chose not to re-sign.
That situation got even more attention after MJF posted screenshots of an old 2022 exchange with Sheamus and added the line, “bring that smoke O’Shaunessy.” The “O’Shaunessy” name was a nod to Sheamus’ pre-WWE ring name, so it was not exactly subtle.
New Day being out of WWE has only added more fuel to the AEW talk, but Ricochet is not playing along. He made it sound like people should stop expecting Sheamus or New Day to walk through the AEW door. Of course, this is wrestling, and social media posts do not always tell the full story.
