Ricochet isn’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat for Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. With the former New Day members expected to join AEW soon, he just made it very clear he doesn’t want to see it happen.
After the August 12 edition of Dynamite, Ricochet took to Twitter and reacted to an edited photo featuring Swerve Strickland standing alongside Kingston and Woods. His response didn’t leave much room for interpretation.
“NOBODY wants this!! #Ahaa”
The timing is pretty hard to ignore. It was recently reported that while sources wouldn’t outright confirm AEW has signed Kingston and Woods, who is now going by Austin Creed, the expectation is that both men will be joining the company soon.
Ricochet’s response also came just hours after Swerve returned to AEW television and immediately found himself dealing with Ricochet and The Demand.
Swerve initially confronted Hangman Page, Brody King and Bandido before Ricochet interrupted and questioned why he was getting involved in their trios business. Ricochet eventually told Swerve to get stepping, only for Strickland to fire back by calling him a “b***h” before heading backstage.
Then came the Kofi and Woods photo. And Ricochet apparently wanted no part of that combination either. There’s already been plenty of smoke surrounding the former New Day members and AEW. Kingston and Creed are past their 90-day non-compete restrictions, while Self Made Pro previously reported that the two want to reinvent themselves and explore a new presentation after leaving WWE.
All In takes place at Wembley Stadium on August 30, leaving a little over two weeks for the speculation to get even louder. Kofi and Woods haven’t shown up in AEW yet, but Ricochet is already acting like he’d rather they stay far away.
Whether he gets his wish is another story entirely. If Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods really are heading to AEW, Ricochet may have just given them their first problem before they’ve even walked through the door.
