Ricky Saints appears to have found his next championship target, and it could send him straight into the AAA title picture. During a WWE digital exclusive posted Saturday, Cathy Kelley was interviewing Rey Fenix about his spot in the upcoming tournament to determine a challenger for Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship when Saints interrupted and shifted the focus to Fenix’s AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Saints warned Fenix that he needed to concentrate on being Cruiserweight Champion or Saints would take the title from him, immediately teasing a potential championship match between the two. Fenix captured the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship by defeating Laredo Kid at Noche de los Grandes on May 30 and most recently defended it against JD McDonagh on the July 31 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Saints, meanwhile, has spent recent weeks working matches that aired on Main Event. His most recent SmackDown or premium live event match came at Night of Champions on June 27, where he lost to Trick Williams in a United States Championship match after previously defeating Carmelo Hayes on the June 19 episode of SmackDown to earn that opportunity.
Now Saints appears ready to move on to another title chase, and his confrontation with Fenix made it clear that the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship is firmly on his radar.
