Ricky Saints is pushing back on how his controversial finish went down during the WWE SmackDown episode on October 16, 2026, insisting he did not intentionally shove referee Charles Robinson into the ropes during his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship match against Rey Fénix.

The finish came after Fénix lost his balance on the ropes and Saints capitalized with Roshambo. Robinson refused to make the count, and moments later Saints shoved Fénix into the ropes, causing Robinson to get knocked into them. Robinson then immediately called for the bell, giving Fénix the disqualification victory and allowing him to retain the title. Pasted markdownAfter the show, Saints took to Twitter to make his side of the story very clear.

“I didn’t intentionally push this man, let the record be clear.”

That came in response to WWE’s post about the finish, which said Saints had been disqualified for trying to cheat his way to a victory against Fénix. Saints was clearly furious after the bell as well. Once the match was over, he dropped Fénix with another Roshambo and completely lost his cool over the decision. Pasted markdown

So while the official result stands, Saints is denying that the contact with Robinson was deliberate. That gives him a pretty obvious argument moving forward: he believes he was robbed of the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship over something he says was accidental.

What did you think of the finish? Did Ricky Saints intentionally cause the referee collision, or did Charles Robinson make the wrong call? Let us know in the comments.
