Ric Flair isn’t leaving any uncertainty about how he wants things handled if his health ever fails him again.

While speaking with Clay Edwards, The Nature Boy reflected on Hulk Hogan’s death and how it made him think about his own mortality — leading to a blunt personal rule for any future medical crises.

“Anytime I get sick, if I go in that life support deal again like I did in 2017—man, you got two weeks. I’m not…”

That stance comes from surviving a near-fatal health scare in 2017, when Flair’s body completely shut down. He described just how bad it got, including ruptured intestines, multiple organ failure, and a long, grueling recovery.

“My whole intestine ruptured. I was septic, respiratory heart failure, pneumonia, total kidney failure. I had a 5% chance to live. I [spent] 31 days in ICU. Then I had to go to a… what do you call those places? Um… where you learn how to walk and that again… a physical therapy hospital. And I had that stone on my side—I didn’t even know it—where they put a bag, you know, attached to your intestine. I had one for three months myself… I didn’t even know I had it until I got home. I knew it ‘cause I was, you know, pretty sedated all the time except when they made me walk and all that. But when I got home and then all of a sudden they were changing… I said, ‘What are you doing?’ They said, ‘You got a stoma.’ I didn’t even know it.”

Flair has dealt with several health issues over the years, many of them tied to the physical punishment of a decades-long wrestling career. In addition to his 2017 near-death experience, he’s undergone multiple surgeries, battled heart complications, and required extensive rehabilitation to regain his strength. Even after surviving such severe medical emergencies, Flair has remained active in public appearances, showing the same resilience that made him one of wrestling’s most enduring figures.

Most recently, the WWE Hall of Famer confirmed he is officially cancer-free following a brief battle with skin cancer. Flair announced the good news on Twitter, thanking Academic Alliance in Dermatology for their support. “Thank You Academic Alliance In Dermatology! I’m Now Cancer Free! WOOOOO!”

This came after Flair underwent surgery for skin cancer and revealed he had one more procedure left. That procedure turned out to be his last, and now The Nature Boy has beaten cancer — a victory that has thrilled fans. Not only that, but he also crushed the 3-minute plank challenge, proving he’s ready for even more physical activities now that he’s free of the disease.

Ric Flair has stared down death, battled cancer, and come out swinging every time — and now he’s making sure the world knows exactly how he wants his final chapter handled. From surviving organ failure to beating skin cancer and still pushing himself physically, The Nature Boy keeps proving he’s as tough outside the ring as he was inside it. Love him or not, you can’t deny Flair’s going to go out on his own terms, styling and profiling until the very end.
