Ric Flair may have claimed he’s locked out of WrestleMania 41 due to his AEW deal—but new info suggests that might not be the whole story.

The wrestling legend hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since Sting’s retirement at Revolution over a year ago, despite signing a two-year deal in late 2023. According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer, the deal was largely tied to his Whooo! Energy sponsorship—which has since ended. But here’s the twist: Meltzer also reported Flair’s AEW contract isn’t exactly strict, and he could still work with WWE—particularly if it involves his daughter, Charlotte Flair.

That directly contradicts Flair’s own comments. While speaking to The Wrestling Classic, The Nature Boy explained that AEW was the reason he won’t be at WrestleMania 41.

“I wish I could say that I was, but I’m not, and I understand why, and I’m not mad about it by any means. I work for another company,” Flair said. “I’m sure I would be more than welcome. Absolutely, if I wasn’t working with Tony, I would absolutely be there. They couldn’t keep me out of the building.”

So what’s the truth? If his AEW deal allows flexibility, why isn’t Flair walking through the curtain at Allegiant Stadium?

It’s unclear whether AEW has blocked Flair from making appearances or if WWE simply hasn’t extended the invitation. Either way, fans are left wondering if this contract is more of a formality—or an excuse.

Flair’s AEW contract reportedly runs through late 2025, but without Sting to accompany or any current TV plans in play, his next move is a mystery.

Should Ric Flair be allowed to show up at WrestleMania despite his AEW deal? Or should he wait until his contract’s up to walk that aisle? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
