WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has made it abundantly clear he doesn’t agree with Chris Jericho’s claim that TNA looked like the #2 company over AEW.
While speaking to Casino Beats, Ric Flair was asked about Chris Jericho’s claim that TNA has become the new number two company in wrestling.
The Nature Boy responded that he prefers AEW over TNA, explaining that he hasn’t seen much of TNA’s product, while AEW has many performers he enjoys.
“Oh, I like AEW much more than TNA. I don’t know much about TNA because I haven’t seen it. AEW has some really great performers.”
This comes after Chris Jericho openly admitted that TNA looked like the second-biggest wrestling company in the world during its Bound for Glory event. Jericho didn’t try to hide his opinion and even took a bit of a jab at AEW when he said it.
“That crowd looked huge — it looked like a WWE-level crowd. The place was packed. I was watching this, and not saying anything out of line here, but comparing it to watching Dynamite when they were at the ECW Arena, which looked like a Tony Candello taping — sorry, it did. You guys, TNA, looked like the second biggest company in the world, and that was amazing.”
With WWE in its own league, the race for second place is getting intense. TNA is getting more attention because of its partnership with WWE and better-looking shows, so some people think they’re quickly going to overtake AEW. AEW still has a big roster and strong global reach, so they’re still a major player in the business. So we’ll just have to see whether TNA will end up surpassing AEW one day.
Who deserves to be called the number two wrestling company today — AEW or TNA? Do you agree with Ric Flair or Chris Jericho? Sound off in the comments.
