John Cena’s heel turn might have shocked the WWE Universe, but it’s his bold claim that he’ll win his 17th world title and erase Ric Flair’s legacy that really hit home—and now, The Nature Boy is speaking out.
In a new chat with TMZ, Flair was asked how he felt about Cena’s villainous declaration on RAW, where Cena told fans he would win the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41, “retire with it,” and make sure people “forget about Ric Flair.” The Hall of Famer didn’t miss a beat with his response.
“I’m just glad I’m alive. That’s the life I’ve led to be here to hear it,” Flair joked before addressing Cena’s shot at history. “I got news for John… the odds of him winning the 17th world title are astronomical.”
But despite the jab, Flair made it clear he respects the move, saying later in the conversation, “I love it. I think it’s the coolest thing they could have done.”
Cena’s claim has only intensified his feud with Cody Rhodes ahead of WrestleMania 41, but now it’s got a whole new wrinkle—with Ric Flair putting a spotlight on just how rare and iconic that 17th title win would be.
