Bubba the Love Sponge says he’s being scapegoated—and now he’s pointing the finger at none other than Ric Flair.
During the July 25, 2025 episode of The Bubba the Love Sponge Show, the outspoken radio host shared a story he says came from someone who witnessed Flair breaking down in public, accusing Bubba of causing Hulk Hogan’s death.
Bubba’s reports on Hogan’s declining health were a lightning rod in the weeks before the wrestling icon’s death. Hogan’s friends, including Flair, publicly pushed back against Bubba’s updates, accusing him of exaggeration or attention-seeking. Now, with Hogan gone, Bubba says some people are turning their grief into blame.
“Listen to this. I got a report yesterday that Ric Flair was at—I think it’s called the Yard House? Yeah, the Yard House in downtown Tampa—doing interviews, crying. And on some of the interviews, which I’ve been trying to find—I don’t know if he was just talking to some wrestlers or if he was just… but, you know, I got—he was blaming me.”
According to Bubba’s source, Flair was overheard on the phone, visibly upset, and allegedly making some heavy accusations.
“Ric Flair was on the phone yesterday, was overheard on the phone yesterday at the Yard House, and he was saying: ‘That fat motherf**er Bubba for the last four weeks is what killed him.’”
Bubba didn’t deny the tension—but he strongly defended his decision to speak publicly about Hogan’s health when others stayed silent.
“Now hold on—I wasn’t spewing lies at all. I was telling the truth. Are we all supposed to live in make-believe land and not… I mean, I thought that’s the absolute art of journalism: when you get a scoop, you go with it.”
Bubba insists his reporting was accurate and necessary, despite the heat it brought him. But now, as emotions flare and grief turns into outrage, the radio host says he’s become a target—especially for those who couldn’t accept what was coming.
Should Bubba have stayed quiet about Hogan’s condition—or was he right to speak out when no one else would? Drop your thoughts in the comments and tell us where you stand.
