The March 10th edition of Monday Night Raw was held at the iconic Madison Square Garden, but many fans noticed a change in announcer as Alicia Taylor was replaced by Mike Rome. In fact, the reason behind Taylor’s absence from the show last week has been revealed.

According to a report by Fightful Select, Alicia Taylor was unable to work the Madison Square Garden show due to illness, leading WWE to bring in Mike Rome at the last minute to fill in for her.

Rome had also missed the March 4 episode of NXT, where he was temporarily replaced by Lilian Garcia, but he returned for NXT Roadblock last week. Rome previously worked as an announcer for both Raw and SmackDown before moving to NXT, while Taylor made the jump from NXT to the main roster.

Alicia Taylor has been a regular part of the main roster ever since she was called up as part of the WWE Draft last year and it’s safe to say she has truly excelled in her role as an announcer.
