andy Orton has officially put to rest any doubts about changing his iconic entrance theme song, “Voices” by Rev Theory. After months of speculation, Orton has revealed why he ultimately chose to stick with the song that has been the soundtrack to his career.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Orton opened up about his initial intentions to change his music, especially after his return from back surgery in late 2023.
“I didn’t know, man. I mean, how do ya? Because it’s a little slower and I know the guys who sing it hate hearing me say this, but it wasn’t ever my absolute favorite,” Orton said. “Matter of fact, I was going to change my music coming back from my back surgery in late 2023.”
While working on a new theme with WWE, Orton said they were planning on switching it up when he got into a big storyline or a potential heel turn. However, everything changed during a trip to Leon, France.
“We ended up making the decision to keep it, and we were going to change it when I got into something big or turned heel. Then, we go to Leon, France and I think it was a year ago that we were there — and I mean, everything changed,” Orton explained. “The whole place was singing my song word-for-word, and from that point forward, every venue, every show, no matter where we’re at, more or less, the crowd is singing or at least trying to sing to my song. I ain’t changing it now.”
Orton’s decision to keep “Voices” comes after months of speculation that WWE was considering a switch, with reports suggesting they initially planned to revert to his old music to re-establish his presence before introducing a new song. However, after some back-and-forth with WWE higher-ups and Orton’s own hesitation about drastic changes, the decision was made to keep the song that fans have come to know and love.
The Viper confirmed that while he didn’t always feel a deep connection to the song, the crowd’s reaction made him realize just how important it had become to his character.
“Rev Theory is great. My song is great. A lot of people enjoy it. I have never loved, loved, loved it,” Orton admitted. “But when I hear the fans singing it, how could I change it?”
As he gears up for his next big match, Orton’s “Voices” theme will continue to be the sound that leads him into the ring. It’s clear that, for the 14-time world champion, some things are better left untouched, especially when they connect so strongly with the WWE Universe.
