Dave Meltzer discussed JBL leaving the SmackDown commentary team on Sunday’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio.

The belief is that Jerry Lawler should be given JBL’s spot on the SmackDown Live announce team given his quality of work. However, the feeling is that Vince McMahon has always been hesitant to have Lawler play a central role due to his advancing age. Nigel McGuinness or David Otunga are two other possible candidates for that role.

As of this writing, the company has yet to announce his replacement. We will keep you updated once they make the announcement.
