The WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event on September 12 in Las Vegas is already facing potential changes after a frightening moment during AAA’s Alliances tour in Mexico.
The incident took place at the Showcenter Complex in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, during a triple threat tag team match for the AAA World Tag Team Titles. Los Garza teamed up with Octagón Jr. and Laredo Kid to take on champions Pagano and Psycho Clown, among others.
Pagano and Psycho Clown retained the titles after Pagano hit a top-rope Guillotine on Octagón Jr. But the move went horribly wrong. Pagano landed directly on Octagón’s head, leaving him motionless after the match.
Referees quickly checked on him and flashed the dreaded “X” sign, signaling a real injury. Octagón Jr. couldn’t walk to the back on his own, and the situation immediately raised concern over his status for Worlds Collide.
He’s currently scheduled to team with La Parka, Mascarita Sagrada, and Nino Hamburguesa in an eight-man “Lucha Showcase” tag match against Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, Lince Dorado, and Mini Abismo Negro. But if he’s concussed, AAA and WWE may have no choice but to pull him from the match entirely.
So far, there’s been no official update on his condition or word on a replacement but Ringside News will continue to keep our readers updated as information becomes available.
The joint event between WWE and AAA was shaping up to be a unique collision of wrestling worlds, but a legitimate injury could throw a wrench into the card at the last minute.
Do you think AAA and WWE should replace Octagón Jr. if he’s not cleared, or should they delay the match until he’s healthy? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
