Jake Hager’s recovery has taken an encouraging step after the horrifying eye injury he suffered at Power Slap 23. While his long-term outlook is still uncertain, there’s finally some positive news following the emergency surgery he underwent last month.

Back in September, Hager suffered one of the most gruesome injuries seen in Power Slap after taking a devastating strike from Johnny Magna in Lubbock, Texas. The fight was immediately stopped after Hager was left bleeding from his left eye and ear, and he later underwent emergency eye surgery. At the time, few details about the injury or his recovery were made public.

Now, according to Slap News on October 8, there’s reason for optimism. The outlet took to Instagram and revealed that Sinn Bodhi said Hager is now able to see out of his injured left eye after suffering a globe rupture during the event. While that’s obviously encouraging, the report also noted that it’s still too early to know how much of Hager’s vision will ultimately return. He could also require additional surgeries as doctors continue monitoring his recovery.

“JAKE HAGER INJURY UPDATE 🚨

Sinn Bodhi revealed Jake can see out of his left eye after suffering a gruesome globe rupture at Power Slap 23 in Lubbock, Texas last month. The extent to which Jake’s vision will be restored is unknown at this time and he may require additional surgeries. Either way this is a promising update and we hope to see Jake regain 100% of his vision 🙏”

It’s still a long road ahead for the former WWE star, but simply being able to see out of the injured eye is a big step in the right direction after the severity of the injury. Hopefully, Hager continues making progress and can eventually make a full recovery.
