Joe Hendry’s “Fire Logan Paul” song ended up becoming one of the most memorable parts of his first night as a main roster star during the April 27 episode of WWE RAW. As it turns out, though, fans almost got a completely different performance.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Hendry revealed he had originally written another version of the song for his RAW debut after WrestleMania 42. The idea was to use it to announce that he had officially signed with the red brand, while tricking fans into thinking he was about to say SmackDown before revealing RAW instead.
“I was supposed to debut the night after WrestleMania, and the song I had was—it was the same song, but it was, ‘Rah, rah, Joe Hendry signed to Raw.’”
Hendry said the whole joke fell apart before he even got a chance to perform it. WWE announced he would be appearing on RAW the following week, with commentary mentioning it and a graphic airing during the show, giving away the surprise he had built the song around.
“What I was gonna do is, I was gonna make it sound—I was gonna say something that rhymed with SmackDown. I was going to, you know, something ‘back down,’ ’cause I have signed to Raw. Like, that was what the gag was gonna be. But yeah, I think Cole had said it and there was, like, a graphic, and I was like, ‘Right, we need to pivot here.’”
That’s when Hendry realized he needed a completely different direction. Around the same time, he learned he’d be working with The Vision, and that immediately gave him another idea.
“And then I found out that I was gonna be working with The Vision. I was like, ‘Well, you know, I’ve always learned in wrestling that you have to go after, you know, the biggest, baddest name.’”
For Hendry, that name was pretty obvious, since it was going to be Logan Paul. Once the lyrics came together, Hendry said everything clicked into place.
“And I was like, ‘Right, well, the one name who’s got the kind of, you know, the most controversy and fame is Logan. So I’ll just go directly after Logan.’ And the words fit right in. So that’s how the ‘Fire Logan Paul’ song came about. And then it just kind of blew up beyond what we had maybe expected. And then, yeah, had to put it on the album.”
The “Fire Logan Paul” performance eventually became Hendry’s first main roster concert and kicked off his rivalry with Logan Paul and Austin Theory. Looking back now, it turns out one WWE announcement completely changed what fans were supposed to see that night—and Hendry may have ended up with an even bigger hit because of it.
