Oba Femi didn’t just shake Brock Lesnar’s hand and move on after their brutal Hell in a Cell match at WWE SummerSlam. According to Bully Ray, Femi personally went to Lesnar’s locker room afterward to thank him.
Bully Ray shared the story on the August 7 episode of Busted Open Radio, explaining that he was backstage talking with Lesnar and Paul Heyman when someone knocked on the locker-room door. That person turned out to be Femi. Ray said the reason for the visit was simple.
“And why was Oba Femi coming to Brock Lesnar’s locker room? To thank him.”
Ray described the moment as an old-school sign of respect from a younger wrestler to a veteran who had just helped put him over in one of the biggest matches of his career. Femi had defeated Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell in the SummerSlam Night One main event, becoming the first man to beat Lesnar in that match type.
The moment carried even more weight because Lesnar had already embraced Femi after the match and called him “the future of WWE.” Triple H had also previously revealed that Lesnar had been mentoring Femi backstage and spending hours sharing knowledge with him before shows.
For Ray, seeing Femi make the extra effort to find Lesnar backstage and thank him made the entire situation even more meaningful. He said the gesture “made me so happy and warmed my heart.”
