Nick Aldis may be thriving as SmackDown’s General Manager, but fans haven’t stopped wondering if he’ll ever step back into the ring — and now, we finally have an answer straight from the source.

During a January 13, 2026 appearance on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Aldis directly addressed whether there’s any chance of a WWE in-ring return. When Konnan asked if wrestling has been discussed behind the scenes, Aldis revealed it hasn’t — but that doesn’t mean the door is closed.

“It’s not really been talked about one way or the other,” Aldis admitted. But when asked if he’d like to wrestle again, he didn’t hesitate: “Of course, dude.”

Aldis referenced Matt Cardona as a model for staying ready, even while out of the spotlight, but made it clear that he’s fully committed to his current backstage role. Aldis also revealed the groundwork for his General Manager role was laid two years ago — showing how seriously he’s taken the transition from wrestler to executive.

“I made a commitment to this role. So it’s kind of like, hey, this is my spot on the show, this is my gig. So it’s kind of like, hey, this is my spot on the show, this is my gig. And when this was first laid out to me, it was two years ago, which is crazy to think about now that it’s already been two years.”

While the conversation didn’t confirm any planned matches, Aldis’ passion for performing clearly hasn’t gone anywhere. In fact, his wife Mickie James had previously said in 2025 that “he’s far from done,” and that lacing up his boots again “would be a dream come true for him.”

For now, Aldis continues to be a key player in shaping WWE’s blue brand, but fans hoping for “one more run” shouldn’t lose hope. If the right storyline comes along — and if WWE wants it — Aldis is ready.
