Psycho Clown had more than his opponents to worry about during AAA Verano de Escandalo, as a mystery masked man showed up out of nowhere and destroyed him in the middle of a huge Latin American Championship qualifier.
The attack went down during the August 8 episode of AAA on Fox, where Psycho Clown faced Cruz Del Toro and El Fiscal in a three-way match. The winner would advance to the four-way AAA Latin American Championship match at TripleMania, joining El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and La Parka.
Things went completely off the rails late in the match when a mystery man wearing overalls and what was described as a Mankind-style mask appeared at ringside. He grabbed Psycho Clown and yanked him over the barricade before smashing his head against it.
The masked attacker then ripped Psycho Clown’s mask off before picking him up and chokeslamming him directly onto the first row of chairs. The attack effectively removed Psycho from the match while Cruz Del Toro and El Fiscal continued fighting inside the ring.
With Psycho Clown taken out, El Fiscal eventually caught Cruz during an attempted hurricanrana and drove him face-first from the turnbuckle. Fiscal followed with a big splash to score the victory and secure his place in the Latin American Championship match at TripleMania.
The bigger question coming out of the match, however, is the identity of the man who attacked Psycho Clown. AAA did not reveal who was underneath the mask during the segment, leaving a major mystery hanging over Psycho heading toward TripleMania.
