MVP isn’t pretending his WWE road days were easy on his body. Looking back at his time on SmackDown, he says the amount of alcohol being consumed was so extreme that he believes it may have literally shaved years off his life.

Speaking on Marking Out with MVP and Dwayne Sees, MVP was setting up a story about a drunken night involving two unnamed multi-time WWE Champions when he started talking about just how much whiskey was flowing during that era.

“There was lots of whiskey being consumed.”

MVP then put the toll of those nights into perspective, claiming his drinking during his SmackDown run probably cost him a couple years. MVP even joked that Jack Daniel’s was basically part of the SmackDown experience because of how often the wrestlers were drinking it.

“I’m going to say that during my time on SmackDown, I easily took two, three years off my life just in liquor consumption.”

“It was SmackDown, man. Jack Daniels was the unofficial official, you know. There was lots of that going on.”

That wasn’t the only alcohol-fueled WWE story MVP had ready to go. He also went back to his developmental days and recalled a night out with Tyrus and Jake Hager, who would later become Jack Swagger in WWE. According to MVP, the three went drinking at a local spot before heading back to Hager’s apartment and keeping the night going. Eventually, Hager disappeared into his bedroom, and after about 10 or 15 minutes, MVP and Tyrus decided to check on him. They found Hager completely passed out on his bed.

“I go and I see Hager stretched out on the bed, knocked out. He’s unconscious.”

Considering the kinds of pranks wrestlers were known to pull on someone who passed out, Hager could have been in for a rough awakening. Instead, MVP said he and Tyrus actually cleaned things up before leaving.

“I think the black DNA ruled out in that situation because we actually tidied up a little bit and put a blanket over him.”

Then came the line MVP still remembers from Tyrus as they were walking out. MVP said they locked Hager’s apartment behind them and left him alone to sleep it off. The story came while MVP was explaining that he never understood the wrestling tradition of pulling extreme pranks on guys who passed out after drinking.

“He better be glad we ain’t white boys.”

“Culturally, I don’t understand these games. These games that you like to play. I don’t get it.”

MVP has never been shy about talking about the harder side of his wrestling career, and these stories paint a pretty clear picture of how intense life on the road could get. Between saying his SmackDown drinking may have taken years off his life and remembering Hager passing out during their developmental days, MVP clearly has no shortage of stories from that era.

What do you make of MVP saying his SmackDown drinking may have taken two or three years off his life, and what do you think about his Jake Hager and Tyrus story? Let us know what you think and leave your feedback in the comments.
