Rusev’s WWE comeback wasn’t just a shock to the fans—it lit a fire backstage too.

After making a thunderous return during the April 21 episode of RAW in Las Vegas, the former U.S. Champion got exactly the kind of reaction he was hoping for—both in the arena and behind the scenes. According to a new update, there’s been a “warm reaction” internally to Rusev’s return to WWE, with multiple talents already expressing interest in getting in the ring with him.

WWE sources told PWInsider that “a lot of talent have voiced their interest in working with Rusev down the line,” which signals WWE’s locker room is fully on board with the Bulgarian Brute being back in the mix.

His dramatic return unfolded as The New Day and Alpha Academy were going at it when the lights cut out. A new entrance theme blasted through the T-Mobile Arena and “Rusev” lit up the screen. Seconds later, he stormed the ring, flattened Otis and Tozawa, and soaked in chants of “Rusev Day!” from a fired-up Vegas crowd.

Behind the scenes, WWE was already prepping a major push. Rusev signed a fresh two-year deal after quietly leaving AEW in early 2025, frustrated over his lack of TV time. His AEW stint wrapped with a win over Andrade El Idolo at Worlds End in December 2023 and a final loss to Alberto El Patron a few months later.

Interestingly, his wife Lana—now on a WWE Legends deal—was at the show but kept hidden from fans to prevent any leaks about the surprise return.

With Rusev officially back and the locker room hyped, don’t be surprised if some dream matches get fast-tracked.
