After confirming it last week, WWE officially kicked off the road to this year’s King and Queen of the Ring tournaments during SmackDown. Tournaments will begin on Raw next week, and the winners will receive title matches at SummerSlam in August. Now we know a couple more people who are in the running.
Trick Williams was the first person to announce his entry into the King of the Ring tournament. He cut a promo aimed at Carmelo Hayes in Barcelona after Hayes made it clear he still wants another shot at the United States Championship.
Things broke down once Ricky Saints got involved. He interrupted the segment and said he planned to deal with Trick Williams after handling Carmelo Hayes first. Their match ended in a double countout after both men kept fighting outside the ring. Hayes won the match after hitting the First 48.
Later in the show, Jacy Jayne declared for the Queen of the Ring tournament during a backstage segment involving Paige and Nikki Bella. Jayne appeared alongside the rest of Fatal Influence and made it clear that she plans to win the tournament.
The rest of Fatal Influence also made their intentions known during the segment. Fallon Henley and Laney Reid called their shot for the Women’s Tag Team Titles while Jayne focused on Queen of the Ring. With both tournaments starting next week, WWE is already stacking the field with names looking to make a move before SummerSlam.
The King of the Ring finals are scheduled to take place on June 27 at WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We will keep a close eye on the 2026 King & Queen of the Ring tournaments. They will be exciting, and only time will tell who wins the honor this year of getting a #1 contender spot when everything is said and done.
