MJF still hasn’t returned to AEW television, but don’t mistake the silence for uncertainty. The former AEW World Champion says he already knows exactly what he wants to do when he comes back—he’s just waiting for the right moment to make it happen.
While speaking to Pro Wrestling Illustrated, MJF was asked about his absence from AEW since All In and when fans can expect to see him again. He made it clear he isn’t ready to reveal any details, but insisted there’s a plan behind the wait.
“I don’t want to give anything away. I don’t want to give anything away, but just know whenever I come back because I’m waiting for the right time, the right moment.”
MJF couldn’t resist having a little fun with his new accomplishment, either. Fresh off being named No. 1 in the 2026 PWI 500, he joked that fans should expect to keep hearing about it once he’s back on television.
“Whenever I come back, just know the PWI cover is not going to be far behind. Okay? I’m gonna be shoving this down everybody’s throats for as long as humanly possible. As long as humanly possible.”
When the conversation turned to what fans should expect from his return, MJF immediately brought up the AEW World Championship picture. He took shots at Will Ospreay, mocking the idea that Ospreay is the best wrestler in the world or the rightful world champion, while admitting he’ll actually be rooting for Jon Moxley at All Out.
“Well, I already said it on national television. This Will Ospreay kid, he’s walking around, he’s saying he’s the best professional wrestler in the world, which is a joke. He’s saying he’s the world champion, which is a joke. To be honest, I’ve never rooted for Jon Moxley a day in my life, but here we are. I’ve got popcorn in hand and I want to see Dictator Jon choke this out on Saturday. I can’t wait. I’m about to G1 Climax in my pants watching Jon Moxley absolutely break that loser’s neck again.”
No matter who walks out of All Out with the championship, MJF says that person is immediately becoming his target. In his eyes, the current title isn’t legitimate, and he wants to settle that himself.
“What you can expect from me coming back is I’m going to whoever has the fake title, I’m going to beat them and prove that I am the one true champion emphatically. I’m going to become the first ever undisputed world champion in the history of my company.
And then I’m going to continue to increase business as that is what I do best. And I’m going to continue to face some of the best names professional wrestling has to offer because the best professional wrestlers professional wrestling has to offer, bell-to-bell, resides in All Elite Wrestling.”
Championships aren’t the only thing on MJF’s mind, either. He said there are still plenty of AEW wrestlers he’s never shared a ring with, and there are others he’d love to face again because they’re completely different performers now than when they first crossed paths.
“There are a lot of guys that I’ve not gotten to get in the ring yet. And there are some guys that I’ve actually gotten to be in the ring with before, but it was a long time ago and it was different versions of them. I’m not going to name names, but you can think of people who I wrestled before they really evolved, who are now, in my opinion, ready to step in the ring with Big Hebrew.”
MJF has been away from AEW television since All In on August 30, but it doesn’t sound like he’s in any rush to return just for the sake of returning. He’s waiting for what he believes is the perfect moment, and when that moment comes, he’s making it clear the AEW World Championship is the first thing on his agenda.
