MJF used to listen to Busted Open Radio. He was even part of the show’s intro. But now that Busted Open is under the WWE Radio umbrella, he thinks the entire thing has turned into a WWE “propaganda machine.”
Speaking on the Sports Media Podcast, Richard Deitsch was about to ask MJF about Busted Open when MJF jumped in before he could even finish the question. However, that’s no longer the case now.
“Now, I did listen to Busted Open. As a matter of fact, I used to be a part of the intro. I am no longer part of the intro because unfortunately it is now a propaganda machine for one company. And that’s it.”
Once Deitsch pointed out that Busted Open is now under the WWE Radio umbrella, MJF went even further: “Yeah. It’s not real journalism.” That wasn’t MJF taking a personal shot at Dave LaGreca. In fact, he spent quite a bit of time praising him.
MJF remembered appearing on LaGreca’s show when he was only 18 and working for MLW. Back then, according to MJF, LaGreca was literally recording out of a broom closet with a sound machine and two headsets. Now he’s built Busted Open into one of wrestling’s biggest radio shows, and MJF respects what he accomplished.
“He grabbed that bag with both hands from WWE. He said, ‘Thank you, sir.’ And now it’s WWE Radio.”
MJF doesn’t blame him for getting paid. What he doesn’t believe is that the show can take WWE’s money and continue covering WWE’s biggest competitor exactly the same way it did before. MJF figures they’ll still have to talk about one particular AEW star.
“Are you gonna hear them talk about AEW? Probably not. Are you gonna hear them talk about AEW ever again outside of saying, ‘AEW bad’? Probably not. Will they talk about MJF singularly? Probably. I’m too big of a deal to f****** ignore.”
That’s really where his problem lies. MJF isn’t upset that WWE is making business moves. He even pointed to WWE running Chicago at the same time as AEW and admitted he understands exactly why they would do it.
“Do I think it’s a little f****** funny that you’re running a show in Chicago the exact same time we’re running a show in Chicago? Yeah, a little bit.”
But pretending Busted Open’s relationship with WWE doesn’t change anything is where MJF draws the line. MJF also believes he noticed a change before the WWE Radio relationship became official.
“You’re not gonna spit in my f****** face and tell me it’s raining. You’re not gonna tell me you’re WWE Radio, but we’re still gonna call it right down the line. That’s not a thing.”
According to him, Busted Open spent the first few months of 2026 talking about AEW’s improving business numbers. He claims those conversations suddenly became a lot less noticeable around the time the WWE deal may have been coming together.
“Did they magically stop doing that once they may or may have not realized they were gonna have a business dealing with WWE? Who’s to say, Dick? Who’s to say?”
He wasn’t outright claiming WWE told anyone to stop talking positively about AEW. MJF made sure to leave that part as his own observation.
“But is it something I noticed? Yeah, maybe.”
So MJF has no problem with LaGreca taking WWE’s money, and he clearly still has plenty of respect for him personally. He just isn’t buying the idea that Busted Open can become WWE Radio and nothing about its AEW coverage changes.
