ROH has new Tag Team Champions, and the belts just changed hands in Mexico City.

Sammy Guevara and The Beast Mortos lost the ROH World Tag Team Titles during the main event of CMLL’s Friday night show. Mistico and Mascara Dorada won the match and walked out with the gold for Sky Team.

The finish was rough for the former champions. Mascara Dorada wiped out Guevara with a shooting star press from the middle rope to the floor, while Mistico locked Mortos in La Mistica in the ring. Mortos tapped, and that was it.

The timing is huge because Mistico and Dorada are heading to AEW Forbidden Door this Sunday in San Jose. They are already booked for a three-way match against The Young Bucks and Shingo Takagi & Titan. Now they are coming in as ROH Tag Team Champions.

Guevara and Mortos held the titles for 204 days after winning the vacant belts at ROH Final Battle back in December. Their reign had been messy lately because Mortos has not been able to wrestle in AEW due to visa issues, so Guevara had been going to Mexico to team with him in CMLL.

Now that problem is over, because the titles are with Mistico and Mascara Dorada.

This gives Forbidden Door a fresh twist and gives ROH’s tag division a needed reset. Guevara and Mortos had a long run, but Friday night belonged to Sky Team.
