Miro may have transformed his body into peak condition, but according to him, that didn’t sit well with Vince McMahon—who allegedly pressured him to bulk back up just to fit a certain image during his WWE run.
On Identity Crisis, Miro and CJ Perry opened up about his massive weight loss journey in 2019. At the time, Miro had dropped from over 300 pounds to 230—the leanest he had been since high school. But instead of praise, he says Vince McMahon wanted the old, heavier version of him back. CJ recalled the meeting clearly.
“Yeah, I remember him saying to you, he was like, ‘Where’s my 300—’ I don’t know why, I immediately want to go into a Russian accent. ‘Where is my 300-pound Bulgarian brute?’”
She added that Vince wasn’t subtle about his old-school mindset.
“He really did. He goes, ‘I want my 300 lb Bulgarian brute.’ That man puts asses in seats. That heel. He goes, ‘I want you as a heel.’”
Miro’s response? He leaned into it, “Turn me heel, brother.” According to Perry, Miro didn’t hesitate to claim his role, “You said, ‘I’m the best heel in the business. Turn me heel.’” But the moment wasn’t just about character—it was about Vince clinging to a vision of wrestling that seemed more focused on size than evolution. CJ summed it up with what Vince told them next.
“Vince was like, ‘I have so many babyfaces, but I don’t have any 300 lb Bulgarian brutes.’”
Miro’s story pulls back the curtain on an old-school mentality that still lingers in wrestling — one where size can sometimes overshadow talent, charisma, and even health. After transforming his body through discipline and hard work, being told to “get big again” says everything about how the system used to operate. But if there’s one thing Miro’s proved, it’s that you don’t need 70 extra pounds to be a powerhouse — just the right moment to remind everyone who the real brute is.
