Mini Vikingo was nowhere to be found in his scheduled match on this week’s WWE NXT, and now we know why. The AAA luchador is dealing with a legitimate elbow injury, although he still has a pretty important title match sitting on his schedule for later this week.

Vikingo was supposed to team with EK Prosper and Chazz Hall against Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor of Vanity Project on the October 20 episode of NXT. Those plans changed when NXT General Manager Robert Stone announced that Vikingo had not been medically cleared to compete.

According to a report by PWInsider, this wasn’t part of a storyline. Mini Vikingo is legitimately dealing with an elbow issue, which is why WWE had to pull him from the match. There’s currently no word on how serious the injury is or how much time Vikingo could miss. That uncertainty becomes especially interesting because he’s still officially advertised for AAA’s Heroes Inmortales on October 24.

Vikingo is scheduled to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship at the show. As of now, that match hasn’t officially been pulled, so his status will obviously be something to watch over the next few days.

He recently made his WWE NXT debut alongside Chazz Hall in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The pair defeated Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Uriah Connors of BirthRight in the opening round before being eliminated by Vanity Project in the quarterfinals.

Getting pulled from NXT is already a setback for Vikingo, but the bigger immediate question is whether his elbow will be ready in time for October 24. With his championship match against Fenix still on the books and no timetable for his recovery, the next couple of days should make his situation a lot clearer.

What do you think about Mini Vikingo’s injury coming just days before his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship match against Rey Fenix? Let us know in the comments below.
