Michael Cole took a pretty sharp shot at Sami Zayn on ESPN Get Up.
Cole was on the show to hype WWE’s big Saturday event in Saudi Arabia, where Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther and Sami Zayn in a triple threat match.
Cole explained that Cody is in serious trouble because he does not even have to be pinned to lose the title. In a triple threat, there are no count-outs, no disqualifications, and the first pinfall or submission wins.
After putting over Gunther as a dangerous killer in the ring, Cole turned his attention to Sami Zayn. That is when he compared Sami to Victor Wembanyama, but it was not a compliment. Cole made it clear he sees Sami as spoiled heading into the match.
“Sami Zayn, to use a sport analogy, I like to call Sami Zayn the Wemby of the WWE. Entitled, spoiled, crybaby. That’s what Sami Zayn’s been all about.”
That was a rough one from Cole, especially on ESPN. He painted Cody Rhodes as the champion in danger, Gunther as the monster, and Sami Zayn as the annoying problem in the match.
Now Sami heads into Saudi Arabia with a title shot and Michael Cole calling him the “Wemby of WWE” on national TV.
What do you think about Michael Cole taking that shot at Sami Zayn on ESPN Get Up? Was he out of line, or was that the perfect way to sell the match? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think.
