Mercedes Moné has been a major name in professional wrestling for more than ten years, and many fans already see her as one of the greatest female wrestlers of all time. However, all careers eventually come to a close, and she has now revealed when she plans to retire from the ring.
While speaking to The Getup Crew, Mercedes Moné was asked where she sees herself in wrestling within the next 5 to 10 years. The TBS Champion revealed that by 10 years from now, she hopes to be retired. At 33 years old, she said she doesn’t want to still be wrestling at 44, saying, “Oh, 10 years? Hopefully retiring by then. I’m 33—I don’t wanna be doing this when I’m 44.”
The CEO of AEW is already a bona fide legend in the business for many, as she is currently the TBS Champion, NJPW Women’s STRONG Champion, as well as the Revolution Pro Undisputed British Women’s Champion.
Mercedes is currently focused on her upcoming match against Athena in the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Cup Women’s tournament on AEW Dynamite this week, so the stakes couldn’t be higher for her.
Mercedes Moné is still making big moves in AEW and across the wrestling world, but it’s clear she’s thinking ahead. She doesn’t plan to wrestle forever since her aim is to retire while she’s still at the top of her game. With everything she’s already achieved and the impact she’s had globally, her eventual retirement will truly mark the close of a major chapter in pro wrestling.
