Mercedes Moné is moving on in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, and she had to fight through a very game Hazuki to get there.
“The CEO” stepped into the ring with STARDOM’s Hazuki during AEW Dynamite this week, with a spot in the tournament finals on the line. Moné made her entrance showing off the Owen Hart Tournament belt, making it clear she was looking to reclaim her place at the top of the bracket.
Hazuki gave Moné plenty of trouble throughout the match, including repeated dives to the outside, a missile dropkick, a crossface, and several close near falls that had the match looking like it could slip away from Mercedes.
Moné kept fighting back and eventually found her opening late in the match. After both women traded counters and near falls, Mercedes was able to lock in her finisher, the Bank Statement, to put Hazuki away and pick up the win.
With that victory, Mercedes Moné officially advanced in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, keeping her tournament run alive and putting her one step closer to another major AEW prize.
