Max Caster’s AEW future just became a lot more interesting. After months of uncertainty surrounding his contract status, Caster appears to have confirmed that he’s officially a free agent.

On October 2, Caster took to Twitter with a post that immediately caught fans’ attention. Rather than directly mentioning AEW, he shared a photo showing the official definition of a “free agent” in sports before adding a cryptic caption of his own.

“Doing my own research 🧐”

The post comes shortly after Fightful Select reported that both Caster and former Acclaimed partner Anthony Bowens were approaching the end of their AEW contracts without any known negotiations for new deals. At the time, it was also reported that AEW hadn’t made a decision on whether to offer either wrestler a new contract.

Caster’s post now makes it clear he’s officially reached free agency. That doesn’t necessarily mean his AEW run is over, though. There’s been no indication that the two sides can’t still negotiate a new agreement, and it’s entirely possible Caster could end up back with the company despite becoming a free agent.

Still, it’s a big development considering Caster has barely been featured on AEW television in recent months while taking independent bookings. Meanwhile, Bowens has continued appearing on TV as part of The Opps, leaving the former Acclaimed teammates in very different positions.

Bottom line: For now, Max Caster appears to be enjoying free agency. Whether it leads him back to AEW or somewhere entirely different is still anyone’s guess. So right now fans will just wait and see what he’ll do next.

Do you think Max Caster ends up back in AEW, or is it time for him to start a new chapter somewhere else? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
