Maven may have made plenty of content involving Triple H over the years, but anyone who thinks that means he genuinely hates WWE’s Chief Content Officer has the wrong idea. In fact, Maven says he actually needs Triple H to succeed because his own YouTube business benefits when WWE and professional wrestling are doing well.
While speaking on the Rewind Recap Relive podcast, Maven discussed the continued growth of his platform, which was sitting at around 932,000 subscribers at the time. He admitted he deliberately avoids watching that number too closely, although the current trajectory could potentially put him at one million subscribers around January or February.
“I don’t look at that number. I literally stay away from that number. If math holds out the way it’s been, we’re thinking January or even February-ish. But that’s just if the math holds out. Obviously, we’ve had times where there’s been spikes, positive, and times where there’s been, you know, a lull.”
That conversation eventually turned toward how closely Maven’s success is tied to what’s happening in wrestling. His team follows current trends, and he’s noticed that whenever WWE is doing particularly well, his channel tends to benefit from it too.
“We follow the trends. We follow the current in wrestling. And when the WWE does good, we do good.”
That’s where Triple H entered the conversation. Maven apparently gets asked whether some of his content means there’s legitimate bad blood between the two, and his answer couldn’t have been much clearer.
“That’s why whenever anybody asks, they’re like, ‘Oh, do you really hate Triple H?’ I’m like, ‘Hell no.’”
Maven also acknowledged that there’s a difference between his actual feelings and creating content people want to click on. When Triple H-related material gets attention, Maven understands exactly why that presentation works.
“If you watch the video though…That gets the views up. There is a science behind all of this.”
The bigger picture is pretty simple for Maven. His YouTube channel covers professional wrestling, so having WWE struggle would hardly be good for his own business. That means he wants Triple H and everyone else responsible for WWE’s product operating at their best.
“But I need the WWE to do well. I need those guys to go out and execute at a high level. I need Hunter executing at a high level. And I need wrestling to be healthy. Because when wrestling’s healthy, our channel does better.”
So while a Triple H thumbnail or topic might occasionally make things look more personal than they really are, Maven isn’t secretly rooting against him. Quite the opposite: Triple H succeeding is ultimately good for WWE, good for wrestling and, as Maven freely admits, pretty good for his YouTube numbers too.
