Matt Hardy believes he and Jeff Hardy may be more popular now than at any other point in their careers. After nearly three decades of ladder matches, title victories and career reinventions, the TNA stars are still drawing massive crowds wherever they appear.
During an appearance on Busted Open, the hosts made the case that The Hardys belong in the conversation for the greatest tag team of all time. While many legendary teams are closely tied to one period, Matt and Jeff have remained major attractions across several different eras.
The conversation turned to whether The Hardys could actually be more popular in 2026 than they were during the height of the Attitude Era. Matt pointed to their recent WrestleCon appearance in Minneapolis, where the brothers stayed beyond their scheduled signing times on both days because hundreds of fans were still waiting to meet them.
“It’s crazy, no doubt. We were just at WrestleCon in Minneapolis, and both days we stayed overtime. The second day, they had to get out of that venue, so they moved hundreds of fans to another room where we could finish the signing, which is wild.”
Matt said the turnout shows how The Hardys have managed to connect with several generations of wrestling fans. He looked back at the matches that helped change tag team wrestling before pointing to the work he and Jeff are still producing in TNA.
“It speaks volumes because there are great moments. You can look back at 1999, where Jeff and I were doing groundbreaking stuff like the No Mercy 1999 tag team ladder match, the first one of its kind, into the Tables Match in 2000. Then fast-forward to 2025, retiring the Dudleys, and then 2026, the Wicked Garden with The Righteous and just a cinematic deal with The Righteous.”
The Hardys are not simply showing up for nostalgia appearances either. Matt and Jeff remain active inside the ring, taking major risks and adding new chapters to a career that already includes some of the most memorable tag team matches in wrestling history. Matt even joked that The Hardys could remain active long enough to retire wrestlers who have not been born yet.
“The Righteous said they hope to make it long enough that we’re able to retire them too, and they think they’re going to be going for a while. We’re retiring kids that are going to be born nowadays. We’re both feeling good and rocking on like a million bucks, man.”
The Hardys have gone from young daredevils trying to earn a spot to established legends who can still command long lines and loud reactions. Their ability to remain relevant without giving up the dangerous style that made them famous has allowed their fan base to grow instead of fading with time.
Matt and Jeff Hardy may have built their names during one of WWE’s biggest periods, but their current run shows that their legacy is still expanding. The brothers are not just celebrating their history—they are still creating moments that keep fans invested in whatever comes next.
