Mason Rook, Tony D’Angelo and Saquon Shugars survived the six-man tag team main event during the WWE NXT episode on September 8, 2026, and now all three men are headed straight into the NXT Championship picture. The trio defeated EK Prosper, Cruz Montana and Keanu Carver to earn spots in next week’s No. 1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match.
The main event quickly turned into chaos with all six men throwing shots and trading momentum. Prosper, Montana and Carver came close to stealing it several times, including a superplex and Frog Splash combination that nearly put Rook away.
The finish came after Tony D’Angelo took control and planted Prosper with a spear and Spinebuster. Just as D’Angelo went for the cover, Rook tagged himself in and took over. Rook then sent his own partner D’Angelo crashing into Prosper in the corner with a cannonball before getting the pin and securing the victory for his team.
That win means Rook, D’Angelo and Shugars will now have to turn on each other next week. WWE announced that the three teammates will collide in a Triple Threat Match on the September 15 episode of NXT, with the winner becoming the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship.
They worked together long enough to get the job done Tuesday night, but that partnership is officially on borrowed time. Next week, there won’t be teammates—just three men fighting for a shot at the biggest prize in NXT.
