Leon Slater finally got the X Division Championship match he wanted, but Cedric Alexander made sure it came with a brutal price attached.
The match was made official during the August 13 episode of TNA Wrestling Thursday Night iMPACT after Ricky Sosa defeated Brian Myers in the opening match. Bear Bronson and X Division Champion Cedric Alexander both got involved during the bout, but Leon Slater stepped in to neutralize Alexander, helping open the door for Sosa to score the victory.
After the match, Slater once again challenged Alexander for the X Division Championship at TNA Lockdown on August 23. Alexander had already turned him down once, but this time he agreed—with one major condition.
If Alexander defeats Slater inside the cage, Slater’s second-longest X Division Championship reign will be erased from TNA history. Alexander would then claim that historical position for himself. Slater didn’t back down and accepted the stipulation, officially setting up Cedric Alexander vs. Leon Slater for the X Division Championship at Lockdown.
That gives Slater far more than another championship opportunity to worry about. A loss won’t simply mean walking away without the title—it would wipe one of the biggest accomplishments of his TNA career out of the company’s record books.
The updated TNA Lockdown lineup now includes:

- Cage Match: Elijah vs. A.J. Francis
- TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship — Cage Match: DemonXBunny (Allie & Rosemary) (c) vs. The Elegance Brand (Heather by Elegance & M by Elegance)
- TNA International Championship — Cage Match: Jason Hotch (c) vs. Mustafa Ali
- Escape The Cage Match: Moose vs. Frankie Kazarian
- TNA Knockouts World Championship — Cage Match: Xia Brookside (c) vs. Elayna Black
- TNA X Division Championship — Cage Match: Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Leon Slater — If Slater loses, his second-longest X Division Championship reign is erased from TNA history
Slater wanted another shot at Cedric Alexander badly enough to put part of his legacy on the line. Now he’ll either leave Lockdown with the X Division Championship or watch one of his biggest achievements disappear from TNA history.
