Former Layla El might finally be open to returning to WWE — but only if one very specific condition is met.
During a conversation with SportShadow.com, Layla admitted she would seriously consider stepping back into WWE for a reunion with her longtime partner Michelle McCool as LayCool. After spending years away from wrestling, Layla joked that her body may not exactly be ready for a comeback today. Still, she admitted there is one scenario that could absolutely pull her back into WWE.
“Well, for one, I'm so out of shape. Two, I don't want to break a hip or something.”
“The only thing I think that I would ever consider or think about doing is if I would do a LayCool reunion. That's it. If it's Michelle and I, then I'll do it.”
LayCool became one of WWE’s biggest women’s acts during the Divas Era, with Layla and Michelle McCool dominating the division together while sharing the Women’s Championship during their run as arrogant heel characters. Layla admitted she used to completely shut down the idea of ever returning to WWE, but her perspective has changed over time.
“Like, before it was always a no, but now it's like why not? If it happens and if WWE decides that that's something they would want to do, yeah, I would do it I think.”
Once the topic shifted toward current WWE stars, Layla immediately pointed to Chelsea Green as somebody she would love to work with because of her personality.
“There was, at first, it was, I was solely like said Chelsea Green because I thought, that, that was, that she's hilarious and she's such a diva. I think that would be great.”
Layla also threw out the idea of facing Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss if LayCool ever made a comeback.
“And then but now I'm thinking that like Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, like I think that would be, that would be, I think that would be a cool match.”
She even mentioned The IIconics as another duo she thinks could fit perfectly into a nostalgia-style LayCool return story. A LayCool reunion has never seriously happened since Layla retired from WWE, but based on her latest comments, the door finally sounds open.
Would you want to see LayCool return for one more WWE run, or should the duo stay retired and leave their legacy untouched? Leave your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
