The original La Parka has made it very clear that he won’t be in Las Vegas for the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event after some confusion over his status for the show.
LA Park responded on Facebook after WWE accidentally used his picture instead of La Parka III, AAA’s newer version, on the poster for WWE x AAA Worlds Collide in Las Vegas, shown on SmackDown. He explained that the photo was of him, but he wasn’t going to the event.
“You know how they always put me up to confuse people, but it’s not me. Well, the one in the picture is me, but I’m not going to go.”
Fans shared their thoughts as well. Some said WWE likely did it on purpose to get attention and confuse people into thinking it was LA Park or one of his sons. Others felt WWE always tries to make headlines this way. One fan even suggested he should show up at Worlds Collide in his LA Park gear since fans were already excited.
“Haha, people think it was a mistake and that WWE doesn’t pay attention, but honestly, they did it on purpose, so people would think it’s you or one of your sons. At Triplemanía, many thought it was the same La Parka.
WWE isn’t dumb, they do this on purpose to make noise on social media. WWE always wants to be the center of attention.”
LA Park, whose real name is Adolfo Tapia Ibarra, joked that nobody invited him, but nobody told him he couldn’t go either.
“No one invited me, but no one told me I couldn’t go hahaha.”
WWE revealed the full match card for WWE x AAA Worlds Collide: Las Vegas on Friday’s episode of SmackDown, but fans were puzzled by the Eight-Man Lucha Showcase announcement.
In the promotional graphic, WWE featured an image of the 1990s La Parka, best known for his time in WCW. That version of the character is now known as LA Park, the original luchador behind the iconic persona.
The confusion over La Parka’s role in WWE x AAA Worlds Collide shows how important the original star still is to lucha libre fans. Even though La Parka III will be the one competing in Las Vegas, the reaction makes it clear that Adolfo Tapia Ibarra is still a massive name in the business.
