On the February 14 episode of SmackDown, WWE had an interesting Valentine’s Day gift for the WWE Universe at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Shinsuke Nakamura took the ring as United States Champion to kick off the second hour of the show. He complained about how he’s watched from the shadows, praying for a worthy challenger.
Nakamura spoke about how he has dominated the roster, and nobody is stepping up to him. As he kept going, fans gave him a pretty bad response, but that was short-lived.
LA Knight’s music hit next, and the former US Champion came out to confront Nakamura. He brought up how Nakamura was praying for a worthy contender and looking for a test. Knight called that a lie, because he knows he almost beat Nakamura, but then the new Bloodline snatched that away from him.
The very popular LA Knight continued his promo as he walked to the ring, and he brought up tests for Shinsuke Nakamura’s championship, as he claimed that he already failed that test. Suddenly, The Miz made his way out.
The A-Lister chastised the fans for going with LA Knight’s gimmick. He also admitted to being wrong about LA Knight being a flash in the pan. Miz said that proves that fans are basic and uneducated. Then LA Knight fired back by saying it’s been at least ten years since The Miz has been relevant before he encouraged The Miz to retire just like John Cena.
The Miz then fake cried and brought up how LA Knight said it’s okay for men to cry last week. The Miz said that his resume stands alone, and if John Cena can call his shot, then so can he — and he wants the US Title. The Miz finally attacked LA Knight after he said he isn’t championship material. The Miz got away, and then SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis came out and booked a #1 contender match for the US Title between the two of them.
After LA Knight and The Miz had it out in the ring, it all ended with LA Knight hitting a BFT. Then he climbed up and hit an elbow for the win. Now LA Knigth will get a shot at Shinsuke Nakamura’s United States Title.
Shinsuke Nakamura is the man who took the title from LA Knight in the first place. He’s been chasing the title since then. Now we will have to see how this ends for the Megastar.
