Kyle O’Reilly may have left AEW’s Glasgow television taping with more than just a loss. The former tag team champion was seen with a nasty black eye, and there was concern backstage that he could be dealing with a broken orbital bone.
O’Reilly wrestled Nigel McGuinness in a Continental Challenge Cup semifinal during the August 26, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite. McGuinness won the match with the London Dungeon to secure his place against Jon Moxley in the tournament final at AEW All In.
O’Reilly remained at the venue for the Collision taping and appeared during the closing portion involving Mick Foley. While discussing the taping on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said O’Reilly’s black eye was clearly visible before asking Bryan Alvarez whether he had heard anything about his condition. Alvarez said he had not received any information confirming an injury.
“Mick Foley came out at the end of the show and did some stuff with Kyle O’Reilly, who had a black eye, by the way, which was noticeable. There was a fear—did you hear anything about Kyle O’Reilly and how he’s doing? Because there was definitely fear of a broken orbital bone.”
“I didn’t hear anything on that, so I don’t know.”
Meltzer then explained that he noticed the swelling during O’Reilly’s match and later heard more about the condition of his eye.
“He had a big black eye, though. I actually saw it during the match, and then afterwards I was told that he had a big black eye. It was scary, and that’s about it.”
There is no confirmation that O’Reilly suffered a broken orbital bone, and the concern shared on the show should not be treated as an official diagnosis. His ability to appear later during the Collision taping is encouraging, but it does not rule out an injury.
O’Reilly’s condition could become a serious issue depending on what medical tests reveal. For now, fans will have to wait for AEW or O’Reilly to provide an update before anyone knows whether the black eye will cost him time away from the ring.
