Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could be about to blow the roof off Wembley Stadium. The former New Day stars are expected to join AEW, and people already inside the company believe their debuts could go down this weekend at All In.
The possible blockbuster arrivals were addressed on WrestleVotes Radio, where Joey Votes revealed that people within AEW are preparing for Kingston and Woods to show up.
“After speaking with sources, we’re told there are those within the company expecting former New Day members Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston to make their AEW debuts this weekend at All In.”
Nobody is stamping this one as official just yet. However, two separate sources indicated that the internal feeling is that Kingston and Woods are AEW-bound, with Wembley Stadium sitting there as the perfect place to introduce them.
“While we don’t have a stamped confirmation on that happening, the belief from two different sources we spoke to is that the feeling internally is that the legendary duo are indeed AEW-bound, with an appearance at Wembley Stadium this weekend well within the realm of possibilities.”
Joey added that he spoke to people who are already overseas and expect the two former WWE stars to join AEW on Sunday.
“We did talk to a couple of people who are already over there who are expecting Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston to join the company come Sunday.”
Kingston and Woods leaving WWE already made a huge story, but showing up together at All In would send Wembley into complete chaos. AEW also has the men’s Casino Gauntlet match on the card, giving Tony Khan an easy way to bring either man out without announcing anything beforehand. TC made it clear that landing Kingston and Woods would be a massive score for AEW. He pointed to The New Day’s popularity and their place among the biggest tag teams of the modern era.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for these guys, and I think, more importantly, it’s a big get for AEW. At one point, The New Day were as big in the wrestling business as anybody else.”
He also wants to see Kingston and Woods completely reinvent themselves instead of simply bringing a watered-down version of The New Day to AEW.
“If it is the time for The New Day, I’m looking forward to seeing what their names are and what their presentation is like. Do they reinvent everything?”
The potential matchups would be endless. Kingston and Woods could step into the ring with The Young Bucks, FTR, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, or just about any other team AEW can throw at them.
“I know we talk a lot about dream matches, but them and the Bucks, FTR, Cage and Cope—anybody else you want to put out there.”
There’s still no official confirmation that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods will walk through the curtain at All In, but AEW sources are clearly expecting something. If their music hits inside Wembley Stadium, Tony Khan may have just landed one of the most decorated and popular tag teams of the last 15 years.
