Kevin Nash has basically checked out of WWE’s weekly product, and he says WrestleMania is where things started going south for him.

The subject came up on the Klick This Podcast when Nash was asked about the recent discussion surrounding Roman Reigns and whether he is overrated. Nash hadn’t heard about it, but there was a pretty simple reason for that — he hasn’t been paying much attention to WWE lately.

Nash said WrestleMania left a bad taste in his mouth and that, outside of watching the wrestler he calls “Big Mama Cool,” he hasn’t been keeping up with much of the product.

“I decided, maybe a couple of months ago — actually, WrestleMania put a really sour kind of twist on things for me, and I have not watched. Because you can pick up the episodes now on Netflix and watch, I’ve just been watching Big Mama Cool. I’ve been watching my girl. I watch her segments. A friend of mine touched base with me today on my phone and texted me. I guess our lack of talking wrestling, I think, is starting to make people understand that we’re just not watching the product.”

The conversation then turned to wrestling podcasts in general, with one of Nash’s co-hosts suggesting plenty of wrestling shows barely watch the product themselves but act like they do. Nash didn’t argue with that assessment, but he made it clear his own lack of interest isn’t necessarily because he suddenly hates wrestling. He simply has other things he would rather be doing during the summer.

“It’s not that it doesn’t interest me. It’s just that it’s summer. You know, it’s summer, man. I’ve got an ocean in front of my house. I have these incredible, even though they might be 103 degrees, sunny days, and I just have shit to do.”

Nash also explained that the constant negativity surrounding wrestling discussion has become another turnoff. He said he would rather enjoy what is happening around him than spend his time diving into another negative wrestling debate.

“There’s something so fucking pure to listen to children’s laughter as they splash in the beach. And then it became, all of a sudden, this whole podcast wrestling thing became such a negative world. There’s so much negativity on a daily basis just in our world alone.”

That means fans looking for Nash to weigh in on every WWE controversy may be disappointed for now. WrestleMania clearly changed the way he was consuming the product, and the constant negativity around wrestling discourse isn’t exactly giving him a reason to jump back in.

What do you think turned Kevin Nash off about WrestleMania, and do you understand why he has backed away from watching WWE every week? Let us know what you think in the comments.
