Kevin Nash has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, but don’t expect to see Big Daddy Cool walking around flashing the hardware.
During Kliq This, Nash was asked why he doesn’t wear his WWE Hall of Fame rings at autograph signings when plenty of other wrestling legends proudly sport theirs. There’s no beef with WWE and no statement being made — Nash just flat-out hates jewelry. Nash didn’t waste any time making that clear.
“I don’t wear jewelry. I hate jewelry.”
And he isn’t exaggerating. Nash dislikes rings so much that he doesn’t even wear a traditional wedding band. Instead, he went with a much more permanent solution. Nash said a watch is about the only piece of jewelry he’ll wear, and even that is strictly functional. When he’s traveling or doing autograph signings, he keeps one on so he doesn’t have to constantly check his phone.
“My wife’s name is tattooed on my ring finger because I won’t wear a wedding ring.”
“I’ll wear a watch because I want to know what time it is without having to pick up my phone 300 times during a signing. The only time I wear a watch is when I’m on the road.”
Being a two-time WWE Hall of Famer still gave Nash an idea at one point. He considered having a massive Super Bowl-style ring made to celebrate both inductions, complete with some extra bling. Then Nash remembered one small problem — he would never actually put the thing on.
“I thought about going to a ring guy and having, like, a Super Bowl ring made that said, you know, ‘Two-Time Hall of Fame,’ and put some CZs in it and bling it out.”
“And I said, ‘Why? I’m not gonna fucking wear it.’”
When the idea was raised that a Hall of Fame ring could serve as a reminder of everything he accomplished during his career, Nash made it clear he doesn’t need a piece of jewelry to tell him what he already knows.
“I don’t need to remind — I did it.”
Nash already makes sure his two WWE Hall of Fame inductions are recognized every time he signs an autograph anyway. Rather than wearing the rings, he simply works the accomplishment into his signature.
“When I sign my name, I put underneath it ‘Two-Time HOF.’ So I sign — that’s how I put my signature, ‘Two-Time Hall of Fame.’ So I don’t need to wear a fucking ring. What am I gonna wear, both?”
Nash was first inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as an individual before later going in again as a member of the nWo, but the rings themselves clearly aren’t what matters to him. He knows exactly what he accomplished, and apparently a Sharpie does the job just fine.
