evin Nash says getting older forced him to start being a lot more honest with himself — and that eventually meant cutting alcohol out of his life completely.
During a conversation with Inside The Ropes, Nash spoke about his age and how differently he looks at time now. The WWE Hall of Famer said he hopes people eventually reach a point where they stop lying to themselves about their own habits, and that realization played a major role in his decision to quit drinking.
“You look in the mirror and you no longer — I would hope when we get this age, we stop lying to ourselves. We tell ourselves the truth. And that’s why I stopped drinking two years ago.”
Nash then joked about the toll years of drinking had taken on him, saying his liver still hasn’t forgiven him.
“My liver still has not recovered. They said, ‘Can you just think it’s the longest rib of all time? Are you kidding me? We’re still not drinking?’”
Nash has never been shy about discussing getting older, but this time he tied that reality directly to a major lifestyle change. For him, quitting drinking came down to recognizing where he was in life and finally being truthful with himself about what needed to change.
