Kerry Morton didn’t just lose a shot at the JCW American Championship — he was fired right after it.
During the September 24, 2026 episode of JCW Lunacy 100, Morton challenged Father Bronson under a five-minute stipulation and appeared to pull off the win. Morton got the three-count, was handed the championship and walked around like he had just beaten the clock.
Then everything flipped. Mac came out and told Morton that the victory did not count because the official time was 5 minutes and 1 second. According to JCW, Morton missed the cutoff by a single second. And that one second apparently cost him a lot more than the title. Mac then announced that Morton was fired.
The moment got even heavier after the announcement when Morton sat down in the middle of the ring and took off his wrestling boots, a classic visual wrestlers have used to signal that they may be finished. That means Morton went from celebrating what looked like a championship win to being told he had actually lost the match, lost the title and lost his job in the span of a few minutes.
It is worth noting that JCW presented the firing as part of the show, so there is no confirmation at this point that Morton has actually left the promotion behind the scenes. The fact that he removed his boots in the ring definitely added to the drama, but it could still be part of the storyline designed to make the firing feel more real.
Either way, JCW made sure Morton’s night ended in the worst possible way. He thought he had beaten the clock, thought he had won the championship, then found out one second had supposedly erased the whole thing before Mac fired him and Morton left his boots in the ring.
