Kelly Kelly almost became the next WWE star to pose for Playboy, but in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to do it and she had a very good reason for it.
Speaking on the LayTalk podcast, Kelly looked back on her time in WWE’s ECW brand when Layla brought up the company’s Playboy offers. Layla remembered that all three members of Extreme Exposé were approached and asked Kelly to explain what happened.
Kelly said WWE did ask her to pose for the magazine, but she was only around 21 years old at the time. Faced with such a big decision, she felt she needed to talk it over with her family before giving the company an answer.
“Well, I just remember them asking me to do it, and I remember I was like, ‘Oh, well, I have to, like, talk to my family,’ cuz I was literally 20, maybe… 2008, maybe, I want to say.”
After Layla pointed out she would’ve been 21, Kelly explained why she ultimately decided it wasn’t the right move. She said she couldn’t stop thinking about how those photos would live online forever, especially since she already knew she wanted to have a family one day.
“When I was 21. And I just was like, remember in the back of my head being like, you know what? If I do do this, it’s going to haunt me for the rest of my life.
Like, it’s never… these pictures are never going to go away. I know I want to have kids. I don’t want to have that on the internet.
And, you know, my family was like, ‘Look, if you feel like this is some…’ Like, you know, they weren’t going to be like, ‘No.’ You know, they’re going to support me. But I just was like, I just can’t do it.”
Layla then reminded Kelly about a meeting with John Laurinaitis, saying he had brought all three members of Extreme Exposé into his office to discuss the opportunity together. Kelly laughed as the memory came back to her.
The conversation then shifted to Brooke Adams, who Layla believed would’ve happily accepted the offer. Kelly agreed, saying Brooke would’ve been a perfect fit and remembered her teasing Kelly after she decided to pass.
“Yeah. Of course. She would have been amazing. I mean, that body.”
“I felt bad for her cuz I think she was, like, not bummed out, but she was like, ‘Damn it, girl. Get on board. Get on board.’”
Looking back now, Kelly doesn’t sound like she has any regrets. WWE gave her the opportunity, her family told her they’d support whatever decision she made, but she ultimately chose what she felt was best for her future.
